Frequently Asked Questions
What is holistic pet wellness coaching?
Holistic pet wellness coaching is personalized, whole-body support for your dog or cat’s health—guided by a blend of modern science and traditional wisdom. I draw from a variety of modalities, including Conventional Medicine, Functional Medicine, Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM), and Herbalism, to inform recommendations tailored to your pet’s unique needs.
Together, we’ll explore ways to support your companion through targeted nutrition, lifestyle modifications, and natural therapies. This may include help with food allergies and sensitivities, as well as wellness strategies for managing chronic conditions like skin issues, kidney disease, and cancer.
While I don’t directly address behavioral concerns, I’m happy to refer you to qualified trainers if food-related behaviors call for specialized support.
In urgent situations—such as sudden illness, injury, or severe symptoms—always contact your veterinarian or emergency clinic immediately.
Which pets do you work with?
I work with dogs and cats, especially those dealing with digestive issues, joint support, senior health, anxiety, or chronic challenges like allergies or cognitive decline.
Do you work with pets who are on medications or under veterinary care?
Yes—I offer holistic support that complements your veterinarian’s care, especially for pets managing chronic conditions or taking medications. As a certified Pet Nutrition and Therapeutic Nutrition Coach, I help you integrate nutrition strategies, supplement recommendations, and lifestyle adjustments that align with your vet’s plan.
🩺 Important disclaimer: Pet wellness coaching is not a substitute for veterinary care. I can not diagnose, prescribe, or cure medical conditions. Instead, I guide you in navigating daily decisions—helping you work more effectively with your veterinary team and explore evidence-informed options like herbal support or functional nutrition.
Ultimately, my role is to empower you as your pet’s advocate. Together, we bridge the gap between medical treatment and daily wellness.
What if my vet disagrees with your recommendations?
My goal is to offer complementary support, not conflicting advice. Think of me as part of your pet’s extended wellness team.
Sometimes, perspectives may differ—especially when holistic or nutritional options aren't part of conventional protocols. When that happens, I encourage open dialogue: I’ll equip you with research-informed insights, clear rationale, and questions you can bring back to your vet to keep the conversation collaborative.
Your pet’s well-being is the priority, and that often means bringing together both traditional and holistic approaches in a way that feels right to you. I'm here to support that process with compassion, evidence, and respect for everyone's expertise—including yours as the decision-maker for your companion.
Do you only recommend raw? cooked? kibble?
Nope—there’s no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to feeding your pet. My job is to help you find what works best for your companion and your household.
I'm trained to formulate personalized recipes using slow-cooked, whole food diets informed by Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) principles. But I also recognize that every family has different needs—including time, budget, and comfort levels.
Whether you're feeding kibble, raw, home-cooked, or a hybrid diet, I meet you where you are. That might mean tweaking your current commercial food, layering in fresh toppers, or designing a fully customized meal plan for dogs or cats with specific health goals.
In the end, the best diet is the one you can consistently provide—and the one that helps your pet thrive.
What’s your approach to pet vaccines?
I believe vaccination is a deeply personal decision—one that depends on your pet’s individual health status, age, lifestyle, environment, and risk exposure.
Rather than advocate for a single viewpoint, I provide balanced, evidence-informed guidance to help you make decisions that align with both your values and your veterinarian’s advice. That includes discussing core vs non-core vaccines, titer testing, and considerations for modified or minimal vaccine protocols.
Whether you're following a traditional schedule or exploring alternatives, I support your right to make informed, intentional choices in collaboration with your vet.
🩺 I don’t administer or prescribe vaccines—but I help you understand your options, ask better questions, and advocate confidently for your pet’s long-term health.
Do you only work with spayed or neutered pets?
Not at all! I work with pets of all reproductive statuses—whether they’re spayed, neutered, or intact.
Decisions around spay/neuter are deeply personal and depend on many factors, including your pet’s health history, age, breed, lifestyle, and whether breeding is part of your long-term plans. My role isn’t to judge those decisions—it’s to support you with tailored nutrition and wellness strategies that align with your pet’s individual needs.
From intact dogs with hormonal considerations to spayed or neutered pets navigating weight changes or behavioral shifts, I’ll help you identify supportive options and make informed care decisions in partnership with your vet.
